| The band has a very unusual and distinctive
sound. (This is mainly because the instruments played, apart from the accordian, are all small enough to take on a boat). It is a surprisingly "round" sound and even with the three basic instruments of guitar, mouth organ and penny whistle using our own amplification we can fill a large hall with a rich sound. We don't sound like an accordion band and we don't sound like a folk band. We have our own distinctive style. We enjoy playing and we can impart that sense of fun and enjoyment to our audience. Some fans have described listening to us as feeling it's "the New Year all year round". We also do a lot of songs in our dance sets and get a lot of pleasure from seeing (and hearing) the dancers as they progress round the room. We don't believe we are the best band in Scotland but we do believe we have our own distinctive style and that in itself can be refreshing when many bands sound the same. |
